Laser treatment for eyes
– Which method suits me?
The cornea has an average thickness of 0.5 to 0.55 mm and a very high optical refraction power (approx. 43 diopters). Based on these natural specifications, it is possible to correct ametropia through a minor alteration of the cornea. A restriction to be observed is that, after laser treatment, the cornea should still have a thickness of at least 0.4 mm to assure the required stability.
The following corrective treatments using laser surgery for eyes are available at present:

The individual values may be quite different from these limit values. They depend on the respective thickness of the cornea and the size of the pupil.
It must be noted that are come contra indications to LASIK treatment; in such cases a surgery may either be impossible, or a customized alternative procedure might be preferable.
