Laser treatment for eyes – lens surgery
Lens surgery are to be considered in case of serious ametropia, such as high short- or far-sightedness. Whereas laser surgery involve removing tissue from the cornea, lens surgery take the opposite approach by adding something to the eye. As a consequence, those procedures can be applied even in cases of very serious ametropia, as there is no limitation by removal of tissue.
In general, two domains are distinguished in lens surgery:
Refractive replacement of lenses
Here, the patient’s own clear lens is replaced by an artificial lens.
Lens implant
This procedure involves implanting an additional artificial lens into the eye.
On the following pages you will find detailed information about the different areas of treatment.
